There is another three weeks left to enjoy the fabulous free art trail ‘Shaun the Sheep in the Heart of Kent’ before all the stunning sculptures move to one final location for the Farewell Weekend between 13 to 15 September 2024.
Booking is now live to secure your ticket to see over 100 colourful Shaun the Sheep sculptures on display at Maidstone Market Hall, Lockmeadow, Maidstone ME16 8LW who have kindly donated use of their venue for this event. https://shaunheartofkent.co.uk/events/farewell-weekend/
The trail has been organised by the charity Heart of Kent Hospice and the Farewell Weekend event is sponsored by Events Partner One Maidstone.
As well as being the last time to see all the impressive Shaun the Sheep sculpture designs in one place, this event is also the last opportunity to buy trail merchandise, take selfies, meet some of the artists and collect your missing app codes from any sculptures not already collected. An exciting fundraising auction to raise money for the trail organisers, Heart of Kent Hospice, will take place later in September.
Sessions for the Farewell Weekend are expected to sell out quickly and will run each day at 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm. Tickets are £4 adult (16+) and £2 child (4-15). Children (0-3) go free but still need to have a ticket. A family ticket can be bought for £10. Group tickets can be purchased for groups of 10+. With limited numbers, the first hour of each day will be a dedicated quiet hour open to everyone that would prefer reduced sensory stimulation.
Anyone interested in giving one of the beautiful Shaun sculptures a forever home can register to attend the charity auction in aid of Heart of Kent Hospice which will take place on Thursday 26 September 2024. The sculptures will be going under the hammer at the Clive Emson Conference centre which will see the sculptures auctioned by Auction Partners Clive Emson Land & Property Auctioneers.
The unique painted sculptures will remain on the trail around Maidstone until 1 September 2024. The trail has already attracted thousands of visitors who have downloaded the app to find and collect the 109 big and small sculptures of TV duo Wallace and Gromit’s fleecy friend Shaun the Sheep. The sculptures are sited at streets, parks and public areas across Maidstone. To ensure you don’t miss out on any of the fun visit www.shaunheartofkent.co.uk to download the free app.
A raffle to win your own Shaun has been taking place since the launch of the Shaun the Sheep in the Heart of Kent Art Trail and the raffle will close at midnight on Sunday 15 September with a live draw taking place at the Auction event.
After the Farewell Weekend, most of the little Shaun Sculptures will be permanently returned to the schools and groups that painted them and the remainder will be sold at auction alongside the 51 large Shaun the Sheep Sculptures in aid of the Hospice.
Those interested in bidding at the auction can now register to receive more information about taking part. Doors will open at 6pm with the live auction taking place from 7pm at the Clive Emson Conference centre, Kent showground, Detling, Maidstone ME14 3JF. Bidding starts at £1000.
